First things first…you’re paying for the atmosphere here, which is well worth it if you have children. If you don’t care for loud, busy places, then the Rainforest Cafe is not for you. The periodic thunder/lightning shows and animal noises are a little much, especially on top of 300 kids under 8 years old, but it’s all part of the show for the kids. It’s also convenient if you’re at Animal Kingdom anyway, since it’s located inside the park (note: you don’t have to go into the park to eat here, there’s an outside entrance).
We were seated fairly quickly for the place to be as packed as it was, and our server was extremely nice. We ordered the Awesome Appetizer Adventure for the whole table, which was pretty good other than the spinach dip. For my entree I ordered the Taste of the Islands, which comes with coconut shrimp, blackened tilapia, and dynamite scallops and shrimp. I’m not really a fan of coconut shrimp and this was no different. The tilapia was very good, but there wasn’t much of it. The Dynamite Scallops and Shrimp were just not good…it was all I could do to stomach it. Another member of my party ordered the Paradise Pot Roast, which they said was great.
All in all, like I said before, you’re paying for the show. You should expect you server to try and enroll you in their loyalty program (it’s free…why not?) which may be useful to you depending on where you live. We’d definitely return here if we have children with us, but probably not if it’s just us adults.
